The Ampersand and Tattoos: My Views

The Ampersand, also known as the " and sign " is known to many to be something different . To me, it's just something that I discovered a few months ago when I was bored and , as usual, perusing through Pinterest.

I saw many types of ampersand's but what spoke to me the most was the face that, when turned on it's side, the ampersand represented a heart. I love signs and symbols, hearts especially.

I'm in love with the idea of love and to get a tattoo representing it is amazing to me. I'm also a big fan of tattoos, so when I heard that there were also such a thing as an "ampersand tattoo".  I HAD to view some of the pictures and I fell in love with a few of them.

I'm a writer at heart and the fact that one of my favorite tattoos also has a question mark to complete the heart is really cool. In script it looks like "&?" which is also like asking "and?" It sounds sassy and full of attitude, all in all a very playful tattoo. Unlike most of the other stereotypes that give tattoos a bad name.

Tattoos aren't always hardcore and grungy, they can be delicate or meaningful. I've always wished that people could understand that. Every tattoo isn't rushed and "heat of the moment" some people wait their whole lives building portfolios of tattoos that they want to get all over they're body while others give themselves only minuscule tattoos. Personally, I believe that people should have the right to choose whether or not they get one and if so how many. We shouldn't have to be afraid of what other people say and let that sway our choices.

The Pin Up Girl

Ahh yes, you're back again... Ready for more, I presume? So, today we will be discussing the topic of the ever-popular Pin Up Girl. According to Wikipedia, a Pin Up Girl is any model (be it glamour or fashion) or actress that takes pictures. These pictures can be cut out of magazines, newspapers, postcards, etc... These images are designed to be "pinned-up" on a wall or in calendars, they aren't sexy pictures that have been confiscated and put into the press. The paparazzi had more class back then and didn't intrude in your personal or snoop into your business. They started in the 1920's and became a hit, women in burluesque shows or actresses looking to be recognized would often get pictures of themselves and leave them in green rooms. Green rooms are where performers or actors relax when they're not working.

Some women saw Pin Up girls as slander and defamation of the female character both to older and younger women. Others saw it as a way to redefine the modern female, no longer did they have to wear long, heavy dresses made of expensive fabrics like they did in the Victorian era. Now, they could wear dresses made of a thinner material with high heels and their hair could be pinned up just the way that they liked it. In my persnal opinion, pin up girls were a way for the modern woman to express her sexuality. No longer did she have to be defined by a man's standards, she could be as promiscuous or modest as she wanted and didn't have to answer to anyone.

A popular show that was once in production was Desperate Housewives. It told the tale of the dark side of cul-de-sac , the secrets that no one wanted any of their neighbors to know. I am, personally, a very huge fan of the show, though it's not being produced now, and I love how they bring a razor blade edge to things like suburban life. Below are some of the pictures taken from a Retro 50's photo shoot pin up:

Pinterest on Hobo Bags

Hi guys, I'm back again! This time to talk about Hobo Bags. Now, for those of you that don't know, the hobo bag is "a style of handbag or purse that is typically large and characterized by a crescent shape, a slouchy posture and a long strap designed to wear over the shoulder. Hobo bags are made out of soft, flexible materials and tend to slump, or slouch, when set down.."

Now, those above are just the labeled ones. Specifically, Coach. Personally, I like Coach. Their bags are durable, and their stylish . Even if you have dirt on them they don't look dirty and really that's just the icing on the cake for me. Now, hobo bags originated from hobo's themselves. They're styled to look as if they've come straight off the stick that hobo's would tie their fabric to and put their belongings in. I've provided a link to "the original" hobo bag below.

Thanks to pinterest.com for all the pictures and to Hobo: The Original for providing us with beautiful bags as inspiration to make our own ! (http://www.hobobags.com/)

Pinterest On Sweater Skirts & Boots

Hi guys, so today I'm going to report what Pinterest has to say about sweater skirts. Or, more like pin about, the details don't matter! Anyway, some of them are below. But first, I have to define what a sweater skirts is: a sweater skirt is any skirt at any length that has been cut from or made to look like a sweater. I know, it's kind of like a 'duh' moment but for some of us (including me) I had no idea what they were. I love the colors and fabrics that they use to make these out of and since it's fall, these seem like the optimal skirts to wear. Not only are they cute, comfy and stylish but they're WARM. And, let's face it, who wouldn't want to wear something that meets the climate and you're fashion taste? It's to die for! Not literally, because then you'd never be able to wear it... but you get what I mean !

I absolutely love the first one, and I wish I had her boots. Which brings me to another topic: boots. Yes, everyone wears them , most of us look good in them but only 25% of us actually incorporate them into our fashion wardrobe. Sad, and that statistic? Totally opinionated and not to be quoted !

So yes, that's all I have to say for right now. I must go and get other things done like...napping. Haha, thanks to all of my readers and, as always, happy blogging !
